A new Beginning - Happy New Year
Dear reader,
Firstly, let me wish you a happy and prosperous New Year!
2007 turned out to be a quiet year for Scandic Interiors. Whilst some projects came under way, time was mainly spent on re-thinking the business model.
It has therefore been decided to suspend the activities of Scandic Interiors for now.
We will be back later in the year in a new disguise, so please check back for new inspiration later in 2008.
Should you have questions or require further information about Scandic Interiors, then please in the meantime contact us using email: scandic_interiors@yahoo.co.uk.
Best regards

Revitalising the image of Scandinavian Design
Internationally, Denmark is respected for streamlined and stylish design of unrivalled quality. And what more could you possibly want, when talking design.
When the associations in people’s minds often relate to timeless designs from the 50’s and 60’s, then some might argue that you could be in need of a face lift.
During 2006, Scandic Interiors will be bringing spotlights of modern day Danish designers, with a view to adding a new string to the bow of Danish Industrial and Residential design.
The language of form, born in Scandinavia in the 50’s and 60’s is still much alive, but there is a new trend simmering in the cold North. They are young up-and-coming designers with something on their minds. People with a need to be noticed and counted; committed professionals with a new take on yesteryears’ classics.
And why, do I hear you ask, have these committed professionals been so long in coming to the front? That is because it takes time to turn the tide, and whilst the World has been busy copying the classic ‘Egg’ and ‘Swan’ chairs, Denmark has been hibernating, only to wake up with a renewed look on the world of timeless design.
So let go of Georg Jensen, Hans Wegner and Arne Jacobsen for a while and embrace Louise Campbell, John Sebastian, DNMARK – names few have heard of, but many will become acquainted with over the next many years. To learn more, and to open your eyes to Danish design 2006, take a look at these:

BE INSPIRED! – This is truly interior design for the future.

have you had your daily doze of 'Wabi Sabi'?
Being a rather material creature at heart, I naturally read a number of women’s magazines (who don’t!). But recently I came across an article, the content of which I want to share with you. It concerned the ‘new’ Japanese trend of Wabi Sabi.
Now, the more perceptive of you will immediately look this expression up on Google, and discover that this ‘new’ trend is in fact built on yet another ancient Chinese/Japanese philosophy focussing on aestethic, or:
“Creating beauty in life, valuing imperfection and living a deep existence “
- at least according to Wabi Sabi Simple (http://www.wabisabisimple.com).
Anyway, inspired by the statement that wabi sabi will be the next feng shui (which is again an ancient traditional Chinese philosophy), I dug a bit deeper to see if Wabi Sabi is something for us designers to really recon with.
Below is what I found, and I hope you will approach this with an open mind:
Straight from ‘trend central’ – New York: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,84859,00.html
If you are more interested in the notions BEHIND wabi sabi, please see: http://www.wabisabisimple.com/default.php (same link as above)

A book link, if you really want to explore Wabi Sabi: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1400050464/103-5045654-6...
And finally, just another article:
http://ezinearticles.com/?Wabi-Sabi,-Shabby-Chic,-and-Des...
One thing I can conclude, without meaning to be sarcastic, Wabi Sabi, has the potential to be yet another ‘declutter-your-life’ trend, which very quickly could set you back a considerable amount of $$$ €€€ or £££, at least if you want to achieve ‘the right’ Wabi Sabi look – if you look at it as another interior trend.
But, on a more philosophical note, I honestly think that it is here to stay. I will certainly see if I can add a bit of ‘Wabi Sabi’ to MY life, and that is more than I ever managed to get involved with Feng Shui.
Best regards
Lise
